Q. When I try to install Download Mage I get a message
"..MFC42.DLL.." and setup stops.
A: Download Mage requires the most recent version of
mfc42.dll (it's a system file from Microsoft) and you can get it at
download page (follow the link "Get Mage" on the top of this
page). Download mfc42.zip and extract it into Windows system directory.
Windows system directory is [Windows directory]\system on Win95/98 and
[Windows directory]\system32 on Win NT/2000.
Q. I'm using Windows 95. During Mage setup, an error
message appears : "Registry setup failed". If I start Mage
anyway, another error message says : "DLL WS2_32.DLL not found".
A. The Original Windows 95 does not have Windows Socket 2
system files that Mage requires. You can get update file from following
Microsoft's web site. Install it before running Mage setup.
Windows Socket 2 Update
Q. I'm using Windows 98. During Mage setup, an error
message appears: "Registry setup failed" and Setup stops.
A: You need a more recent version of mfc42.dll (it's a
system file from Microsoft). Download mfc42.zip from our download page
(follow the link "Get Mage" on the top of this page) and extract
it into Windows system directory. Windows system directory is [Windows
directory]\system on Win95/98 and [Windows directory]\system32 on Win
NT/2000.
Q. Some of the download managers send information back
to the software author and are considered "Spyware" or "Adware"
rather that "Freeware" by many persons. Does Mage do same
things?
A. No. Mage is just shareware. It never send user action
or information to anywhere. It does not include any advertisement either.
and there is no plan for such things.
Q. I need to uninstall Mage for some reason. How to
uninstall it?
A. You can uninstall Mage by using 'Add/Remove Programs'
applet in Control Panel. There, select Download Mage to uninstall it.
Q. I want to change the default destination directory.
but I couldn't find how to change it anywhere. How can I change it?
A. The download initiative dialog (it's the dialog that
appears when you click on a link for download) does have 'Browse...'
button. once you specify a directory with it, the default directory
changes to it. You can also type in a directory and/or filename manually.
